Can any MTN rep here advise ...

From latter part of 2006, up until early 2007, I was delighted to finally have 3G coverage, and used my 3G cellphone as a modem to connect via my laptop.
For the past month (at least) I am only able to connect at GPRS or Edge speeds - today it was around 14 kBps / 112 kbps D/L, which has been typical for a while now.
(...the obvious - I have selected 'dual mode' for the phone network setting's connection, as opposed to GSM mode ... and my modem setting are fine .... I use the laptop at home as well with the same phone, and have 3G connection there...).
What's happened to the 3G/HSDPA signal that was recently available? Offices are in Kya Sands Business Park, Kya Sand, Randburg, Gauteng.

Exact location (S26.03104 E27.94451 .. WGS84 datum)

Bump @ MTNDD .... I know you're not really involved with this anymore, but would appreciate my query being forwarded to someone else at MTN.

At my office every day I have been checking for 3G signal on my N6630 (and, yes, I have selected "dual mode" as opposed to "gsm" mode in Tools>Settings>Phone>Network Settings>Network Mode).

I check if I have 3G signal every day I am in the office (admittedly not every hour, but 3 - 4 times a day), and I have not had 3G signal for a couple of months now.

Today, I have full 3G signal, and quickly did a speed test from www.speedtest.net

Results were:

Ping (to their server in Cape Town) = 114 ms
DL = 159 kbps
UL = 210 kbps

Has MTN secretly checked out their tower in my area, and sorted it, after I posted on this forum on 19 March?

While I'm not delighted with the speed test results, I can live with the 278 kbps DL ... as it sure beats my 256K shared line I have at my office, where I have just checked the speed at:

Ping = 88 ms (better that MTN 3G)
DL = 134 kbps (slightly worse than MTN 3G)
UL = 192 kbps (slightly worse than MTN 3G)

All I can do is continue checking for 3G signal, and report here if it is down again for an extended time

Can you do me a favor and log this if it hasn't already been logged on 0119121212 or coveragecomplaints@mtn.co.za

I'll get the Coverage guys look into it immediately
