Or is this my imagination ...

mmmm,

They had a "Network Monitoring Page" ... now why can we as users not access this ? ....

We have to waste our time waiting to get to the helpdesk who then first off is not aware of the problems....

Guess I just expected more from ISPs... In the good old days when I worked for one the helpdesk was usually the FIRST to know about any problems ....

Nevermind help desk. I always think the firewall stuffed up or the modem's not well.

Now i've got a new theory. I think they want to see who's connections are actually active ie. somebody is using it other than leaving it to download stuff while they go to work. I'll call this my Theory of Redistributing Bandwidth or "Bandwidth Shuffling" By just disconnecting the network a few minutes they get rid of all the downloaders for a while, because for some reason everything runs faster when the network comes back on, although only for a little while.

it has been twice sofar today that they have gone down in a big way ...

mmm time to start using wget to circumvent the posibility of the above theory ...

personaly i think you just gave them an idea i doubt there is enough collective intelegence at ST to comme up with the above

True

I haven't seen much difference since the whole open proxy issue.

Today I phoned Sentech to ask them why my modem is constantly searching for a tower which I can see from my house and from which I get a 25% signal. No one could help me, Carlos (yes, remember his name) did help me with the same problem a few days ago. The problem seems to have been fixed until today. Okay, called them up and they told me it was the whole network down. No surprise but at least I had an answer. About 30 minutes later the modem still kept on disconnectiong. So I phoned them back and then I spoke to Tristan who actually had the common sense to ask me if I happened to be on tower 110 in Linksfield. Well since it went down a few days ago its been stuffed and despite my incesant phoning no one has done anything. Now obviously since other people have complained they came to fix it today.

I must give Sentech one credit, when they have a problem they do fix it. The only thing is that it takes time with them.

Finally am I can say is that they finally took away that dumb pink panther hold music away and now they try to deafen you before you can get through to the actual call center.

Sentech call center = Morons INC (well except for Carlos and Tristan [:D])
