Hey everyone

Firstly, a big thank you to the mod(s) who set up this subforum. Hopefully it will grow and be a big attraction.

I will start things off by asking this: what inventory software do you run on your network? I use SpiceWorks at my work, as it's free, and pretty in depth. It's a little sluggish at times, and has it's issues, but overall is worth it.

Can anyone recommend something else that they have used? Free or pay, doesn't matter. I'm curious to learn.

:)

@ bdt

Thanks, will go check those out now. I had searched for a list like that on Wikipedia before but I must have missed it. Guess my kung-fu not that strong lol. Also, point taken, will put links in next time. It does make things easier.

Will Spiceworks handle 16,000 workstations and about 1000 servers?

I suppose it can, but scans will take hours. From what I know, having used the product, and reading in the community, it's meant for your typical small to medium sized network, up to 250 computers/devices. They don't recommend using it in anything larger due to the time it would take.

Maybe one day they will be able to get the system up to that level.

We use Lansweeper Network Inventory software in our company which exists out of 17 different domains with over 200 servers, and i must say we don't experience any troubles in having everything processed in time. this might offcourse be because lansweeper doesnt scan everything all the time. we have set the software to only scan our servers once every day and for the workstations only the importent stuff is scanned every day while less frequently changing items such as memory, processor are scanned only once every 2 weeks.
