I've just spent 27 minutes logging a call on 140. The call centre don't know of any problems in the Western Cape. Will test in Somerset West later.

I'm not going to spend any money, especially not R2500 on any antennas, routers or whatever to be able to use my Cell-C modem. You don't buy a car and push it around and when you want more speed you have to buy a enjin.
You are only spiting yourself.

Think of buying an antenna for your modem like pimping your ride.

There has been an improvement, sort of.

I'm now getting download speeds of ~240kB/s (vs ~130kB/s yesterday), same 100MB file. I am, however, currently using ADSL to reply because this page won't even load using CellC.

Is your download local or international?

See my speedtest.net results above, today my London speedtest is faster than my Johannesburg one!

@ginggs

I think the point he was trying to make was that he shouldn't have to spend more money than he already has just to get the product to work how it should to begin with. And I'm totally with him on that one. Cell C was meant surpass where Vodacom and MTN had previously failed with mobile data. Up to now, it's just more of the same. It started out great, but now it's just horribly average.

Cell C, don't go promising miracles to the masses when you can only provide what you've advertised to a select few. I've spent just over R1k to get connected - I refuse to spend another cent!

Mines worse than it was :/

Pinging would get 70% packet loss ... But now its 100%. Nothing works

Will do when I'm on a PC.

Just rebooted and tried again. Still HSPA+ (99%) with RSSI at -69 - but zero throughput.

I'd be happy with dialup speed right now :/

I am also having problems in midrand. This morning i could not connect at all. I was keep on getting error 628.
Finally i could connect after trying for 100 times but pages were not loading.
But now it looks fine but the speed is not as before but i dont have any problem with this speed as long as the connection is stable. But is not at the moment.

Edit: Signal strenth is also chnaging between 10% to 90%. Sometimes it is connecting in EDGE.
