Network mode Nokia N73 - no UMTS

My N73 network mode has no option for UMTS - only GSM and Dual mode - I therefore cannot make video calls unless UMTS is available - please advise

only some models offer just using utms, select dual mode and if the 3g icon appears then u have a 3g signal

No, dual mode = switching between umts and gsm, whichever has a stronger signal.

umts = forcing 3g regardless off it's signal strength.

switching between umts and gsm usually results in a dropped connection, which in the case of a video call would result in a dropped call.

He thinks there is NO 3G available on his phone.

No UTMS option??

Yeah you could use dual mode then but that presents the problem of switching between the 2 modes. I though all N73's came with the 3 options.

Vodafones branded ones only have GSM and Dual Mode.

Is it not possible to upgrade the firmware to change this?? Even if that means changing the product code?

Very possible, although I havent tried it.
