Network problems are ongoing

I've not had a reliable 3G connection since the 14th of June.

Since that time I've called the 082 155, emailed customer service, prayed to the gods above and received nothing from Vodacom beyond SMSes.

Emailing customer services get you nowhere.

The operators at the call centre will happily tell me that such-and-such a person from the technical dept will phone me - but they never do. Or that certainly, a supervisor will phone, but they don't.

Sometimes I'll get an sms with a reference number, and sometimes a helpful sms saying that network problems are ongoing. For two weeks.

Come on, vodacom, this is Telkom-level customer relations.

In the interests of full disclosure:

I've just had voice message left on my phone from a Voda engineer explaining what the problem was and what they're doing to resolve it. This should've happened two weeks ago!

Is VC actually charging you for the service you are not getting?

They say I should call Accounts to discuss it. When I point out that "I have already had to hold for forty minutes plus to get to the point that I'm speaking to you, and that as it is really a problem on their side, perhaps they should phone me?" they promise to get someone to call me. But surprise, surprise, no-one ever does.

No doubt, if I stopped the debit order they'd phone me quickly enough.

I had kindof this problem when my phone got stolen 6 months back, when i phoned to have my sim cards blocked, pre paid and contract (i usually keep a spare pre paid sim with sum credit under the back cover of my phone) it all went well to block the pre paid number, but when i asked the operator to assist me in blocking the contract sim, i was told to phone another number for contract, i did, got back to the same help desk, WHO STILL could not/wanted not to help me, and guess what, anothe 6 30minute++++ phone calls, i finally got the sim blocked.... Now what would have happened if my contract sim been switched on? How many calls could have been made in the 8 hours it took me to block my contract sim.... Whou would have to have paid for the calls made???? NOT VODACOM

Connectivity sucks

 For a few weeks, I have also been unable to keep a reliable connection on the new hsdpa card. I've phoned support numerous times... mostly I give up before anyone answers, because the waiting period is so long, and the answer is always, new profile...we cant say what's wrong, someone will phone you...blah..blah

Coverage and connectivity use to be good where I stay (Eastwood, Pretoria)

I've noticed that certain apps cause the connection to be dropped... like firefox and itunes music store... this is crazy.

I will not be wiling to pay for a service that is continually disrupted. I also find the inability of support staff to say what the problem is disconcerting. If there is a general problem, then say so, we can all see from the forums there is a problem. I would like to know what kind of recourse we have for paying for a service not being delivered, and when it will be fixed....

As you say, we're wasting a lot of bandwidth just continually reconnecting.

That's why i left VC for internet! i couldn't stay connected for longer then 50 mins at a time, I live half a KM from the Base Station. I had full signal, I had a 64k SIM, used the latest version of the dash and my card's firmware was also up to date. But if i used GPRS it stays connected for hours but very slow! so i phone and phone and phone 155. They tell me it is my pc. so i do a clean installation of windows, Hey still got the problem. So i phone back i get told 'sorry our computers are off can you please phone back' by that time you have reached your call limit to 155. So what do you do. it simple change networks.

WTF is this BS you guys are talking about? Are you only allowed to call 155 x amounts of time per month?
If so, I am VERY disappointed in VC, thats for sure!
