Neuralink - a glimpse of an Internet for human minds
Elon Musk’s company called Neuralink, launched in 2016, aims to implant a piece of technology in people’s brains that would allow them to control a computer or phone by thought alone. This is otherwise known as a brain-computer interface. [The Conversation]

Shame, I saw the video, the guy said the first thing he did was play Civilization 6 till 6 am in the morning. LOL. Rock on.

Nah, I'm good thanks. I'ma just stick with my mouse
Already having to deal with cheaters in my games, now there's flippen psychics too.

But seriously, amazing tech, guy also said it took a day after the operation then he was up and functional. Seems to be life changing.

So my professional takeaway, if you're into playing chess and strategy games, and you really love superbikes, you'll be fine.

Rest assured, it will start out being used for helping the disabled and so on, but the end result will be for military use and for those with bad intentions.

Of course if Elon has come this far, then those bad actors have probably already achieved their goals.

We are so far behind in regard to technology here in South Africa that it's laughable. We do not produce chips/cpu's/gpus/mainboards/semiconductors. We do not have research on future tech. We have ANC and that's it.

What would happen in future if people were able to link themselves to devices, infrastructure and even other people’s brains in a kind of brain-computer internet?
My skeptical view is that we becomes a civilization of drones without any individuality. We'll have information piped straight to our brains and when everything we say is the output of querying some AI system to give us an opinion on something, we lose our own opinion on anything. Even with current image generating AI I can imagine a very near future where even more people lose the ability to create their own art - everything is just the output of prompting an AI to do the thing for us.

Oh SpaceX flies up a looooot of stuff for the military, they love Elon, lol.

All this future tech and no one implements it to fix Eskom.

Who cares if I can move a mouse with my thoughts.

Fix Eskom

Fix Eskom

It can be fixed within months if ESKOM gets sold as a private entity.
The problem right now is Unions, Gov corruption and nepotism, BEE/AA, bloated staff contigent, tender scandals,... list goes on and on.
