Grants will never help to reduce the poverty gap.

Grant money comes from taxes paid to government.
With a decreasing tax base, extra taxes must be raised to be able to pay grants.
People are already struggling with all the taxes we already have.
Raising extra taxes will push more people into poverty.

Well,if they're sensible and remove all the current grants, cut the increases and number of government staff, stop all bailouts etc - they probably could do it
Wow I only laughed about 30 times typing that up

You can't cut any grants at the moment, It will **** the real economy. Too many shops rely on people spending grant money. Weaning people of would be the only strategy.

I like the idea of a family grant, as in one grant per family. That means Prudence with her twenty twelve children only gets a small single payment, instead of pro rata per offspring.

You'd be replacing the current grants with a bigger grant though,so no loss there

Finance minister Enoch Godongwana warned in a presentation to ANC officials last week that the government has limited budget space to fund the party’s project wish list.
Yes a common problem encountered by all socialists. Good luck and enjoy Dubai.

I will happily take all the money set aside for this report and provide a single one line response that will give exactly the same answer as this multi page report.

"We can't afford it".

I cannot make ends meet anymore.

I am seriously considering just to resign, and do subsistence survival and living.

Sounds interesting. You could vlog the experience but that would likely defeat the subsistence element as you would likely make a fortune.

Hey, if that can be a revenue stream, I'm not going to argue with that.

The grant is required so people can fund expenses to generate more money for them.
Like buying crowbars and bolt cutters.
