Nice - I like what the smaller players are doing these days.

• Free airtime may not be used for standard or promotional bundles (Data, SMS/MMS, BIS/BES) and premium rated services

That's the reason I won't be getting this, and then also -

• The 8ta more offer does not include earning 1 minute for every 3 minutes received from any SA mobile network

Edit :

Also, the following -

• Peak rates: 8ta to all local networks (including 8ta) @ R2.78 per minute billed in per second increments

Do they really think free airtime will entice customers more than the flat ( very cheap) structure that Cell-C has going? Please..

Thanks 8ta,I will stick to cell c 99c,your call rates are way too high, higher than your free airtime

Thanks 8ta, but that peak rate is horrendous. Cell C 99c for real for me

Ok so you have to choose. Get free sms and free minutes when people call you OR get free airtime which will only be usable for 7 days......

Why? The free minutes you earn when people call you is valid for the whole month..... That said that if you recharge with R100 for 7days you get another R100 to use for a lot of stuff. Its quite a lot. I'm stuck now. OMG

CellC steals Telkom branding

Thx but no thx 8ta, Cell C 99c is the way to go.

CellC used to be Red and white branded and they gave that to Vodacom.
And then they were black and white.

Have u noticed in their print adverts they are now using Telkom's Blue and Green, colours associated with Telkom's brand adverts for decades.

AKC admires Telkom after all? Or trying to steal their brand?

Wow ok People lets compare cell c 99c vs 8ta more......

R50 recharge gets you:

Cellc : +-50min to any network anytime or +- 50mb out of bundle or +- 100 SMS or +- 50 MMS

8ta : R50 airtime + R50 promo money - +- 36min during peak any network or +-102min off peak or 100mb out of bundle or 100 SMS or 100 MMS

*Cellc has no expiry where 8ta has a 7day expiry date for the bonus airtime.

So basically Cellc beats this by quite a few minutes during peak but 8ta is a run away off peak. I think its epic both of them.

I honestly think they leave Vodacom and MTN in the dust. Remember that these offerings are so much value for money and gives you lots of stuff and considering you can use it to call ALL network makes it so much better than MTN Zone/Mahala thrusdays and Vodacom's Night Shift/Power hours where the rewards only count for on net calls

*I stand to be corrected so please correct me if I'm wrong cause my maths was not my strong point in school.

So regarding data, the bonus airtime can only be used at R1 per MB? i.e. no data bundle purchases?

This is where it fails.

Yes, the data does not benefit at all. That might be the next promotion

If you buy a 12 MB bundle with that R50 for R1.50, you can use the remaining R48.50 at OOB rates of 15c/MB. Therefore that R50 gets you a total of 335 MB over 30 days

Nah,more data please.Nice try though, good see the smaller players taking the fight to Vodacom and MTN.

No thanks! Cell C still beats the pants off 8.ta

Just helped 2 friends port to 99c for real today.

Cell C leads, the rest follow.... Down hill!

I'm tempted by CellC but their coverage isnt up to scratch in the areas I need so I'm sticking with 8TA for now.
