Douglas Reed, MD of Datapro, welcomes a per-gigabyte billing pricing structure. He says that per usage billing is the way forward as it helps to ensure that users get the service they pay for
You dont read too well dude ... article says 30gig account is R1620 wholesale ex. VAT. Add 20% markup & VAT, and you got R 2216.16 p/mSneeky said:What sort of profit margin youi think they would be making on a 30gig account retailing for R1250pm
Hi Alaincravenalaincraven said:The big question, is was Douglas Reed taken out of context? Did he know of the R60/GB or was he expecting WAY less?
rpm said:Hi Alaincraven
I spoke to Douglas and he simply welcomed the new structure and not the specific pricing. His main concern is that a small group of high capacity users can impact negatively on the majority of standard users. From an ISP’s perspective it does make sense…

very interested as to why local is being capped? how on earth is that justifiable?
ahh because they can
those are all wireless services and as such can be expected to cost a bit more. ADSL is a f@cken wired service. 30gigs for R1600+??wtf? u cannot have a cricketer competing against a brazilian superstar in a game of soccer, therefore u cannot compare adsl competing against the wireless providers. this is totally outrageous, and i hope icasa have something to say about this. this is almost a 900% increase in what we're currently paying...how do you justify a 900% increase? which kind of business operates that way. now im pissed off *puts heavy gangster rap on, feels like whipping some telkom @ss*scatlett said:Remember, the per gig price has to still be competative against the MTN, VDC, and iBurst offerings or the pricing model it sunk before its started.
