New, aggressive MTN fibre to the home prices unveiled

It's a start.. still a bit too high for the data they offer though in my opinion

Are my eyes deceiving me, or do I see a data bundle there?

20GB on a 20Meg fibre line?

What madness is that?

100Mbps line with 100GB of data for R1,400 is not bad. If we could get it at the office, we would have taken it for sure.

Difference between package 2 and 3!? Who would go for package 2.

100GB for R1.1k @ 100Mbps. Okay, that's not too shabby?

Can I get it in my area? Coverage map?

Why not make it a 12 month contract? But hey 100GB in 2 years will be something. At least one can also choose his own ISP.

The table is wrong.

I wonder what the top-up pricing is going to be like?? How does the 20Mbps and 40Mbps fibre compare with VDSL, in terms of pricing??

open access ....

If it's open access, that changes things quite a bit.

I'd be perfectly happy paying the line rental if it means cheap data. Given the speeds, data shouldnt be more than R1 a gig.

Just out of interest, will this service be capped (limmited), or will they allow you to go out of bundle at R2 a mb?

Well i'm actually rather impressed with this. We're heading in the right direction for sure. I'm totally happy with a capped solution that reduces cost but increases upload speed for software deployments.

Clearly the idea here would be to make the profit by using a higher per GB rate (razor / blade theory and all).

sign me up for option 3!!!

O wait.... Telkom refuses to install lines, so there will be no chance in hell MTN will !!!!

The data options are pretty pathetic. Many businesses need more data than that. Why doesn't MTN offer many data caps? R3.85/GB, just to use the 100GB pricing, would equate to R3850 for a terabyte, and R4854pm total. That would be amazing for 1TB at 100Mbps with business level service.

Well i would take Option 3 If the following applied:

1. 500GB Data
2. Once you hit your cap you get throttled to half speed or 10MB = Unlimited
3. If you want full speed again = R 1 Per Gig
4. NO Port Shaping or Restrictions
5. 1 Week Install Times :)

So MTN is now the 7th Provider to start doing this.

Telkom, Vodacom, MTN, DFA (Lightspeed, Cybersmart), Neotel, IS

Who is next on the list ?????
