New airline may be created from SAA

South Africa is seeking to create a new thriving national airline out of the ashes of its current state-owned carrier, which is technically insolvent and on the brink of being placed in liquidation by administrators.

An ideal replacement for South African Airways would have both public and private owners, maintain the country’s trade connections and make a profit, the Department of Public Enterprises said in a statement on Friday.

As long as they have the idea that the state would be a key player in this new airline it will hopefully never take off.

F%^K

Enough already with the African fairy tales .....
Mandela was first - we were told about the African dream, it was a free and non racial SA. Today, now, youre hardly free, and racist ideology persists.
Then we had the whole Alive With Possibility line, well during that time, the Rand contracted by 20% or so as the possibilities became impossible.
Then we had the whole we will create jobs saga - the public sector wage bill grew and private sector unemployment grew quicker.

When will this sewer rats just stop with the lies and bullsh t... ?

This makes perfect sense. The ANC sees a problem, gets advised on the correct solution. Then, takes the exact opposite of the correct solution, outsources the implementation, throws a couple of billion at some cadres, plans a lavish unveiling and makes a press statement. Then wipes the sweat from its brow, stands back and admires its handywork.

And their mamas are so proud.

If the government is involved in the "new" airline it will have the same results.

This sounds good , like a phoenix from the ashes of SAA.

Nguli mtchele moleke! :D

Take old money they've fvcked up and create a new money spinner and charge it for the second time to the tax payer and after plundering that to shyte it'll close.

.

PS.
How is this going to be funded?

You forgot that they first have to set up a tribunal, that will run for 3 years and go 10 times over budget.

Treasury already announced that the tax take could fall by 32%, then there's the added debt burden of the COVID-19 loans not to mention additional interest for new loans due to downgrades and debt/GDP ratios. Between the troubled SOEs, bloated cabinet, large global embassy presence, huge state wage bill, social welfare,... What to save is either something the ANC decides or is going to be decided for them, maybe it's about shifting blame when its decided for them.
