I also think it is a load of bollox

however, my post above was to aid bwana v.xx in the translation of the article, and in no way means i believe even 1/10th of it is workable in real life

mmm. forensics is a real science and most of you will be amazed what forensic investigators can do. from determining exactly what happened at car accidents to plotting the path(s) of bullets and determining from which guns the shots were fired, a lot is possible. South Africa once had a world renowned forensics unit (unfortunately it is now understaffed and not very well utiised). TV shows like CSI and Bones glamorise the science greatly, but do not discard the science. As for the facial recognition technology, it exists (and is being used), but obviously the eye candy matching is a hollywood glitz addition (as seen on Las Vegas and countless other TV shows and Feature Films_. Biometrics is fast becoming a distinctive forensic field, and facial recognition technology falls within that field.
