The eMac - what this is replacing - was also the last of the crt models AFAIK.

As usual much more affordable to US students. :(

It is a damn good deal. You get a lot of computer for $900.

Problem is that Apple doesn't operate in SA, so we have the Core Group (Licenced sole distributer in SA) taking some more money out of our wallets. Consumers end up paying about R10:$1. This was when the Rand was acutually R6.20:$1. So I hate to see what it is now

supersunbird : So what if you can get a decent PC for that price? It doesn't have anything to do with the discussion that this is a great Mac for a great price. It offers a great looking machine with amazing software to the education market at a similar price to which you buy plain windows boxes. Hell, at that price, it is cheaper than most PC brands

Since bootcamp and the ability to triple boot that line has become blurred. The fact is Mac's run windoze as well as or better than comparably priced pc's - though you cant say the same about windoze pc's running OsX.
