before you laugh at me, its not my new phone, its my lady's phone. she loves crackberry and got a retarded expensive deal from vodacom with a joke amount of data. now the phone is set to LTE which means the cap has already blown. Ive told her to set the phone to hspa/3g instead of LTE so that it doesnt eat data so fast, but she says its an LTE contract (???) and cant set the phone to a lower speed. so, any boffins out there that can prove or disprove this? and if disproved, I can set her phone to a lower speed or what?

(More info: I did set the phone to HSPA/3g once for her, she waited all of 30 seconds and said the phone doesnt work anymore. and if you're a guy, you know thats the end of the conversation.)

thanks

The phone can be set to 3G/2G only .
Swipe down from the top when you on home screen.
Select mobile networks on the drop down menu.
In network mode ,Select 3G/2G .

By doing the above the phone will not go to 4G.

Data prices are the same on all bands .It's just that 4G is the fastest connection.

lol I love this part the most "she waited all of 30 seconds and said the phone doesnt work anymore. and if you're a guy, you know thats the end of the conversation"

Either way, whether you can or cannot set the speed lower, she should just learn to watch less justin bieber youtube videos, or pay more for data

Yeah forcing it to 3G or lower would not always resolve the issue. Vodacom and MTN got really really good networks so their 3G speeds are decent too. With 3G you can expect to get like 10-13Mbps on a normal 3G tower or 20Mbps if it is DC-HSDPA so you won't be going slower in some cases 3G might even be faster if you are closer to a 3G tower and further away from a LTE tower but the phone sticks to the weaker LTE signal.

thanks for the replies. basically she uses her phone for social media and some apps. LTE is way over the top due to the stupendous pricing plans vodacom has on contract. Im wondering if she can set the phone to HSPA/3G and the speeds will be limited? sorry if I sound dof this morning, didnt sleep well last night
