Bad news for new car buyers in South Africa

Many of South Africa's popular car brands are experiencing stock level problems due to a global shortage of semiconductors and other supply chain disruptions.

Some modern vehicles now boast thousands of chips to monitor, manage, and control various functions.

Yes we do. The mobility of ordinary citizens has resulted in them buying new Mercs and BMWs, taking potential supply away from those in government who really need it.
Imagine if the ANC Government puts a ban on the sale of cars for 6 months until the chip shortage is sorted.

People will be 100x angrier at this than they were at being forced to comply with lockdown nonsense.

I am a big fan of the Cross, but I heard that the Hybrid is actually better inside city via fuel but much much heavier outside the city, so think twice before you by that one.

I do however think that Hyundai has finally gotten one to beat it. (Honda has been missing the boat completely with their SUV).

The Grand Creta with 7 seats would be tough to beat. The Diesel is certainly the one to get...

Its got the sunroof etc that the Cross is missing. And its about the same price.

Crazy, had my name on a waiting list for both a VW and Haval, whoever had stock first would get my money, after waiting 5 months I gave up and cancelled the orders.

Turned out that it was actually a blessing in disguise because of the rising interest rates and petrol prices... Going to continue driving my 7 year old Fiesta (paid up) which is still going strong and light on fuel.

And give the people a grant of R350 which is going to be stolen by the people that drives the Mercs and BMWs.
