I have a couple of questions relating to the new data pricing, Pitbull would you please answer these? I am with MTNSP.

How can I find out how many megabytes in total I have used for the last three months? I'm considering upgrading my data bundle but would like to know how many megabytes I'm actually using to see if it's worth it. I've looked on MTN Active, but I can only see the data used for the unbilled invoice, and that's not even live.

I have a MyChoice 75, roughly 6 months into a 24 month contract, is it possible to migrate to one of the Extended Data packages? Are there costs involved? If I choose the Extended Data 1GB package will I get the 2nd GB free for only the first three months, or for the remainder of the contract? Are these Extended Data packages considered promotions, or can one opt not to have itemized billing and caller line identification?

In the insert in the Sunday Times, several Terms and Conditions were specified and specifically the following:

"If you take out the Extended Data 1GB Contract within this period, you will receive 1GB extra for the entire duration 24 month contract."

The period refers end on 18 May 2007.

I saw that, but I want to know if it is possible to migrate an existing contract to the Extended Data 1GB contract and get the 2nd GB.

Promo Questions answered

Hi Guys

I know that somewhere in here I was supose to feedback on my conversation with ginggs.
I forgot where the thread is.
So here is the questions and the answers.

Q: Can one migrate to this promo bundle packages ?
A: In short no. However you can migrate to the Pro-data package @ R 9.99 a month and have a bandle of your choice loaded at the new reduced pricing.

ginngs also suggested a very good idea. Having your total data usage for a set bill month included on your inv. (Not ITB)

I personally think this is a brilliant suggestion and I have sent it to the System developers to pls address and feedback. Will keep u posted !

@ ginngs

If I have missed something pls post it here ;)

Thanks, one thing I think a lot of us would like is a definitive answer on tiered pricing. It seems as if VOIP is going to be charged at a higher rate, as has been stated for a while, maybe P2P too, but why IM? Its not as if it could put much strain on the network.

You have as far as VOIP and P2P are concerned, neither of which I use MTN for anyway. I'm just wondering about text-based IM like MSN, Google Talk etc. Gladiator claimed it was going to be charged at R25/MB and I haven't seen a definitive answer on this either way, or maybe I just missed it. :)

In my case, this would be considered a downgrade from a MyChoice 75 on which my E620 card is subsidized to a Pro-Data, so I would have to pay in a penalty to cover the remaining cost of the card.

Pitbull was able to look up on the system the megabyte totals for the last three months. My average is around 350MB, and I still have the R75 from the MyChoice package (which translates to 50MB at the out-of-bundle rate of R1.50/MB) to play with should I go slightly over my 350MB bundle. The other thing he clarified for me was the unused portion of the R75 carries over for one month, so I could have up to 100MB in reserve.

Thanks, looking forward to that.

No comment at this stage except the usual comment - If it's voice it will be charged as voice and if its data it will be charged as data no more and no less until further notice

It depends on how the packet is "marked"

If it's voice you'll be charged voice if Data then data.
I can't see it being charged as voice.

Here is my take. The main problem I see MTN having is uploading voice - VIOP

For you receiving voice there is no loss to the network. However that is my take and I can't talk on behalf of MTN ;)

Heres a theoryregarding my queery:
Maybe thats why I got charged even though I had that 200MB data left. I streamed again this morning and going to after 6pm tonight. Maybe you can just check that?

MTN will lose on revenue when clients are making Skype calls for instance.

MTN will gain in Voice streaming as a download. No loss of revenue. I was Barking up that aly :D

I forgot to "say try and audio stream tonight" due to my current data problem...lol

Or you can download the app from wap.virginradio.co.uk and try it.
