Vodacom recently discounted the 3G packages . The 1 Gig package I have is not only R349.00 per month.
But it seems as if they are getting their money back on another way now.
Last month I went over my 1 Gig limit and had to pay extra, the first time it happened since I have my 3G. It is OK, I might have downloaded something big.

But last month my stats said:
Threshold Used Bundle Remaining Bundle
May 1048576 KB 984657.92 KB 63918.08 KB

So you can see that there was 63918.08 Kb still to be used.
My invoice however stated that they charged me an additional R5.17 for extra data used  . On the invoice that brings the total to R355.69 but they debit my bank account with R628.00

So boy and girsl. Since Vodacom gave you discount, keep an eye on your data usage, invoice amounts and bank debit order amounts.

Have V3G check out your account on his side.

Is there some way to see total usage, not just adhoc bundle and contract bundle usage.

I went over last month and got slapped with R400 extra, but theres no way for me to check(that I'm aware of) if I actually went over by that much,

If you want to track usage from your pc then get a program such as netmeter.

Have you tried to run a detailed report on your account?

My Account -> Account Info -> Reports.

This should give you all usage, i.e. including when you exceeded your bundle.

It works on my personal contract with a bundle on it.

Can anyone else confirm / deny the above?

Hey V3g, how about a sticky thread giving step by step instructions on how to use the data features of V4me instead of having to repeat yourself every couple of days?:)

Great minds think alike!;)

I've requested all the various bits of info to build this sticky as:

1) Requests come in all the time, as you've noticed.
2) The whole setup is not very intuitive!
3) No consistency between contract and pre-paid.

If Vodacom is your direct provider then yes you can do it. But if you bought your contract from anybody else then you cannot see that information. So you have to go to your own ISP and start asking nicely etc. I am stiil trying to get an answer for how far we have gone over for MAY.

Vodacom just bumps you off once they see that they are not your direct provider.

I suggest that you get a softlock put onto your data sim. The early warning system does not work, for me any way it did not. You  on R628 you should :eek::eek: on 10 times that amount.

Cool, thanks. Now just one more thing, 155 told me that I can buy bundles on V4me. Where exactly can I do that cause I really can't find it (and I did miss the reports so I'm apparently a little lost on 4me).

Why can Vodacom not just simply enable this function for none Vodacom direct customers. If they can give basic balances then why not the reports ?

The credit risk of the subscribers resides with the SP and just one reason why only the SP can activate and deactivate services - what will happen if the subscriber activates a bolt on bundle for a couple of hundred rand and doesn't pay when the SP had a R100 limit on the account?

He should only be able to activate once he has proved payment or once the SP has approved then it should not take them (SP) hours to activate.

The point is that its handled by the SP and up to them to implement, not Vodacom.

Overcharged

Hi Vodacom 3G
Somebody from Vodacom did phone me last month to say that they will investigate the reason for overcharging my account. That was about a month ago and I am still waiting. I have not heard anything from Vodacom again.

I posted a fred last month about the same thing but cannot find anything.
I am on a 1 Gig contract. SO I have to pay R349 right?

The problem is that Vodacom put the correct amount on the invoice, but deduct double the amount from my bank account.

In June the invoice amount was R355.69 (bit more than R349 because I send smsses) but they debited my bank account with something more than R600.
I reported it a couple of time and up to now all they can say is that they are investigating.

Just to pi$$ me off more and to proof how bad their admin is, they did worse this month. The invoice amount is R356.98. They debited my account with R712.67
There was 204339.2Kb left on my cap last month.

Again I posted a query at the vodacom4me web site, but I guess that they will forever investigate. If they could not even make the maths between the invoiced amount and debit amount of last month (takes them 30 days to do R600-R355.69=R244.31) within 30 days I will surely confuse them if I give them the same maths to do this month.

What the hell is going on. I have been battling to work with the 3G for the past 3 weeks because it keeps on disconnecting and to reward me for my frustration you overcharge me.

Just telling me that you are investigating the matter for ever is not an answer.

If they do this to 5% of their clients each month they surely raise millions in interest free capital.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

By the way, just in case they say that they cannot find me, the cell number for my 3G card is 0795156006, you can find my cell number on my account profile.
