New court case to decide if Cape Town can buy power outside of Eskom

The City of Cape Town says it will ask the courts for a declaratory order that will allow it to choose the type of power that it provides.

Haven't the ANC been bleating on about new (private) suppliers entering the market to increase our electricity supply?

So wouldn't that then imply choice?

If government is going to dictate who buys what, what is the point of new suppliers entering the market?
