I gave up on registering for any car stuffs. It`s best to just keep out of the system and do your own thing like taxis.

HAHAHAHA

or that chip in your right hand....

:p
Or partner with Bill Gates and use the nano bots from the Covid Vaccines.

In all seriousness though, why even have a card at all? Encode a unique hash or signed token (think JWT) as a 2D barcode or QR Code. That gets emailed to the person or sent via whatsapp or delivered in an app or any number of ways to distribute it. You just need to make sure you have a copy of that token when you are stopped. The police can then scan the token and have it query an online server for the details and validity of it along with any outstanding warrants of arrest, traffic fines etc that are linked to that driver.

That way you don't need to wait for someone to print out a stupid card. You can print your own card on your home printer, or carry it around on your phone, or go to a local print shop for them to print out.

Exactly what I was gonna ask.. it’s 2021/2.. it’s long over due for a digital card to be added to Android/iOS wallet.. similar with identity card/doc.

Added: Or even a Government “Citizen” app which can store and be used for multiple government services.. aka egovernance

That was the plan I hoped, but the smart card doesn't have any of the smart features implemented/enabled.

More on the horror that is booking a drivers licence card renewal slot.
I have emailed them. Big surprise is that they actually emailed me back....

Good day,

Receipt of your email is herewith acknowledged.

Please be advised of the New Schedule, for releasing slots!

Kindly note that all slots opened by the licensing centres on a day are released by the online system in batches at random times between 08:00 and 20:00. It is advisable to keep checking randomly within the 12 hours’ period. NB. Refresh the preferred Province and Driver's Licence Testing Centre webpage by clicking BACK to the Applicant Details page then NEXT as the slots are not automatically updated if released when you remain on that page.

Please take note of the following information regarding the availability of bookings as updated on the website:

GAUTENG PROVINCE.

For Driving License Card Renewals and PrDP renewals and Applications

- Mondays: All 38 DLTCs will avail slots for renewal of DL Cards and PrDP Applications ONLY: These are slots which will be available to people whose driving licence cards are expiring, expired, lost or stolen. All DLTCs will avail slots for renewal based on available resource and their operational plan. Some of the centres might still have some leftover slots released on other days.

For Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests

- Monday: All DLTC’s in Tshwane will avail slots for Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests.

- Tuesdays: All DLTC’s in Johannesburg, will avail slots for Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests.

- Wednesday: All DLTC’s in Ekurhuleni, will avail slots for Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests.

- Thursday: Merafong, Mogale City, RandWest and Sedibeng, will avail slots for Learner License and Driving License Tests.

Pensioners

- Wednesdays: Dedicated to any person 60 years and older to go to any DLTC to renew their Driving Licence or apply for a PrDP and the day has been declared "Pensioner's walk-in day": Every Wednesday all DLTCs which are authorised to perform renewals, will make resources available to assist pensioners with their driving licence card renewals. Pensioners are not compelled to make an online booking to access a DLTC. Other services will also continue. If you see any slots for any service it may be left over from the previous day.

Priority slots no longer available!

EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE

The Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and Kariega (Uitenhage) DLTCs will open slots for the following services, Monday to Friday;

• Learner’s licence testing

• Driving licence testing

• Renewal of Driving Licence Cards and

• PrDP Applications

Please note: If you managed to make a booking for Driving Licence or Learner’s Licence Test then you must confirm and pay for your booking within 3 days of making the booking on the website.

Eye Test: To assist the process and enhance their experience at the DLTC, applicants are encouraged to visit an optometrist or ophthalmologist for an eye test and take such eye test report to the DLTC. Ensure that the eye test report is signed and stamped at the practice. Please note eye test reports are only valid for Gauteng motorists.

The dedicated time zones for the release of slots are as follows:

• 08:00 – 09:30

• 10:00 – 11:30

• 11:40 – 14:00

• 15:00 – 16:30

• 17:00 – 18:30

• 18:45 – 20:00

NB.: Single or multiple batches of slots might be released per time zone. Refresh the preferred Province and Driver's Licence Testing Centre webpage by clicking BACK to the Applicant Details page then NEXT as the slots are not automatically updated if released when you remain on that page.

NB! Bookings are currently only available for the Gauteng and Eastern Cape Provinces only.

As per the published Gov

Now my question:
For Driving License Card Renewals and PrDP renewals and Applications

- Mondays: All 38 DLTCs will avail slots for renewal of DL Cards and PrDP Applications ONLY: These are slots which will be available to people whose driving licence cards are expiring, expired, lost or stolen. All DLTCs will avail slots for renewal based on available resource and their operational plan. Some of the centres might still have some leftover slots released on other days.
And then, you get this:
For Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests

- Monday: All DLTC’s in Tshwane will avail slots for Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests.

So what happens on a Monday?
"renewal of DL Cards and PrDP Applications ONLY" and "Monday: All DLTC’s in Tshwane will avail slots for Learner License Tests and Driving License Tests."

Thank you my sweet sweet govemant....

They don't follow that schedule. They release them whenever they want to.
