New DStv channels and Family package announced

Well FOX is possibly a good thing, but I expect it to be the same kind of crap as Universal really.

As for this "Family" package, it looks pretty decent if you aren't into your sports.

Multichoice's people on their forum are denying the addition of FOX, at least that's what they were doing yesterday when forum members pointed out the adverts. FOX I can definitely dig.

Interesting though.... with the fox content they void any kind of exclusivity Top TV had.

They have have word for that: Cartel.
 
How about at least pay-per-view sport to go with any of the lower-end packages, since we will clearly not get anything with (decent) sport for less than full price? Call it the "broke sportlover" package.
 
I think DSTV are running scared.

68 movies online, not streamed, vs 45,000 from iTunes ?

Take all the other crap away, they survive on their sport monopoly - and subscribers are beginning to question whether that is enough.
 
Oh it will be the real "FOX" channel all right... the real south african Fox version of what dstv thinks Fox should be like if they were indeed airing a fox channel.

don't raise your hopes up people! My guess is, it will be the same Fox(Africa) on Toptv that they will end up with. as in the Case of Discovery World and TLC same old syndicated shows on both platforms!

The Family channel looks like B and C grade channels with F grade sport.

Much the same as what's in the bins near the Pick and Pay checkouts.

There are no movie channels worth anything, the music is lousy and you get a sports highlight package. It's a shadow of what you can get on TopTV and most would argue that Top TV is not great.

Yes, it will be the African version alright. Only, Multichoice has got nothing to do with the programming, they just pay for the channel that is packaged for Africa. the normal is it will have old Syndicated shows from the Fox network. just like you have with Sony, Universal and CC. all the new shows, Mnet buys those separately.

Yeah I think TLC on dstv is also a fake channel, because when I look on directv's scedule their TLC channels aren't still repeating cake boss season 2
