I'd much rather take an Up! than the current Figo. Let's see how the new Figo does though. I don't think that just because a car is made in India means it's unsafe - some Jags and Land Rovers are made there and I'm sure they're plenty safe.

Depends on ones needs (and wants) as usual,

- 2cm less ground clearance than a Figo and we have lots of speed bumps around here (and at this one shopping centre my mom Polo Vivo always bottoms out at the badly designed entrance, my Figo doesn't and I like to go on dirt roads at times.
- Less boot space. 33l less.
- Less doors. 3 vs 5
- Less towing capacity (if it is allowed to tow at all, just working on the Tare, cant even tow my 450kg GVM pure standard luggage trailer with an Up! legally, even if the trailers empty), just like the Yaris has no tow capacity, if you see a tow bar on one, its for a bicycle rack.

But yes, if a pure city car, the Up! is a good choice, more fuel efficient in the congested traffic, smaller body and narrower so easier parking and probably some other nice modern features like DRLs.

I wonder if the new Figo will finally get DRLs.

I doubt it. Until SA gets some car safety standards manufacturers will keep ropping out every piece of kit they can before shipping cars here, at least in the budget sector.

I might go for the Figo Aspire sedan if it comes here, something to replace my Ikon with.
