Hi,

As luck would have it, last night my Samsung P2370 monitor packed up, all I get is a white flashing screen. Monitor is out of warrantee, so now I need a new monitor.

I am looking for a decent replacement, with a good response time, the Samsung was 2ms. I have found 2 ASUS monitors with 1ms response time, the VN247H (23") and a VS278H (27"). Has anyone used these monitors or have any other recommendations?

I noticed most new monitors seem to have a 5ms response time.

I can get the ASUS at cost price, so that is also a plus, as this is an unexpected expense.

Reviews on Google suggest those ASUS ones are great. Honestly I can't tell the difference between my ~8 y/o monitor with an 8ms response time & my newer one with a 2ms response time. No ghosting or whatever, and I've played FPS's on both for many hundreds of hours.

Thanks, both monitors are 1920x1080, would the 27" monitor need more gpu horsepower to get the same speed as 1920x1080 on the 23"

Nope. 1920 x 1080 is 1920 x 1080, regardless of screen size. :)

I giggled when I read this.

That's nice to know, but it does not answer my question, I assume its the same, but I don't want to buy something and then be worse off. which would be better 23" or 27". I do sit quiet close to the monitor

Even though I'm sure many people have no problems with Asus, my experience with Asus SA was horrendous. Bought a 6.5k monitor with a bright/dead pixel out the box and they wouldn't help me at all. I mailed about 20 times, and was just messed around and eventually ignored. Rather stick with Samsung.

Samsung only seem to have 5ms monitors, is this good enough for gaming, my Samsung that blew was 2ms

Whether you have a 50" LED @ 1920x1080 or a 23" LED @ 1920x1080 you will get the same FPS.

Same amount of horsepower as the graphics card will still be rendering the image at 1920x1080 but you're gonna get a slightly crisper image on the 23" as the pixel density will be greater.

That's a bad cough you have there, here's some strepsils.

I have that monitor at 120hz and it's amazing if you have the graphics horsepower and I only payed R3600 incl shipment and customs and I can do 2560x1440...lol
