I have Dstv premium with a standard Compact 1110i decoder. Will I need to pay anything extra if I get a PVR one ?

AFAIK the subs increase by about R50 pm for the PVR option. This however also includes the "Extraview" option

Can't I just use it without them knowing it is a PVR ? I have a LG HDD recorder that works beautifully but my Dstv never auto-tunes to the programs correctly (Multichoice does this on purpose) so I am about to give in and get a PVR.

The UEC HD PVR will be a quad tuner decoder and it is expected to cost the same as the current Pace HD PVR.

Is the current Pace HD PVR also a quad tuner decoder - I always thought it only had 3 tuners? (i.e. watch one record two channels)

Now we only need something interesting to watch, like the Discovery science channel. Or how about some Fox, NBC,HBO or American Sci-Fi.

Xtraview and PVR functionality is R65 extra per month. You pay the same if you have both or either one of them

I hope the 3 extra HD channels come soon!!! It is still awesome

It has 4 , the fourth tuner is dedicated to the EPG as far as I understand

I'm interested in the new decoders. If this goes well I might finally drop my 10 year old tube.

A year later they are still sorting out "minor bugs"... Sounds like my 2-year old Garmin GPS

You can activate it without the PVR function, as far as I know...

still no dual view?

Nope, and there will never be dual view again. Only Xtra View.

According to MultiChoice CEO Nolo Letele the latest HD PVR software release, which was made available to DSTV subscribers in May, means that the decoder is now very stable and reliable.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Yeah right! and I own a farm in Eloff Street!

I only wonder if this will support interactive channels. But then again, with Multichoice removing All Africa Poker from the list, why would I even bother.

This is dumb Monochoice. Why not make the cheaper version a single tuner HD - HDMI decoder only and cut the price to below R600 for the decoder. Why are you forced to pay for a PVR if you want HD. I have a HTPC and have no need for a PVR and I believe there a lot more people with DVD recorders etc. or just don't want to record stuff because of all the repeats.
