Hmmm I mean it's not like we didn't have something like this already. I drove to Kempton Park today and the trucks man the trucks. The rail just had nothing on it, now in the 90s you barely saw trucks

Urgh. A high speed rail link joining Joburg and Cape Town would be something I'd support. Would be nice if you could go from one to the other in under 2 hrs.

Probably cost as much as a plane ticket knowing the government

The ticket for that sort of train would be 20 times the cost of a plane ticket at least... Would be the fastest train in the world by a comfortable margin.

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) plans to build a new rail corridor between Gauteng and the Eastern Cape to help reduce congestion at Durban's port.
Perhaps someone in those meetings can help them with a PowerPoint to see that Durban is not in either of those provinces - or even inbetween ... ;)

LOL. Imports via PE instead of Durban being shipped to Gauteng.

Perhaps they did learn something from the KZN EWC recently. Just maybe.

So are these spanish speaking trains, italian speaking trains, or french speaking trains, and is the train height going to matter again.

"Transport minister Fikile Mbalula has previously said that the government is conducting a feasibility study to introduce a high-speed rail development between Pretoria, Johannesburg and Durban."

It would work out way cheaper to build a highspeed rail from Richards Bay to Alexander Bay along the coast. Such is the geography of the country.
