This is a bit sad. I have the 2017 version of the Matebook X Pro that was done as a grey import. Fantastic laptop (still using it with no complaints), but the only thing they have changed in this one is the CPU and storage size? This is Huawei after all, with $100b R&D, surely they could do better than that?

I went to the Huawei store in Menlyn as I wanted to see the laptop. They had huge advertisements in the mall advertising it.

When I went to the store they said they don't have the laptop, not even a display model. When I asked them when they will get it they couldn't answer. 2021 I asked. They couldn't even answer it would be there next year.

Those big advertisements in the mall must cost them a fortune but you can't even buy the thing they are advertising. In SA Huawei are just clueless.

With Covid you have to wait outside the store for 20 minutes with the white old man not letting you enter so you just watch the sales staff stand in groups chatting to each other. Then you finally are let in and the answer is shrugging their shoulders.

Reminds me when they were advertising the phone repair service in huawei stores.

Went there. No they are not operational. Then there phone lines aren't even up.

Then it took months of trying to get going. Each time a different excuse.
Finally they were up and running. Ask for a replacement screen. No they have to order it. Then for months went on and each time no they haven't received it. I just realized how much time and trips it cost me so finally after 6 months I just ordered a new non Huawei phone..

35k laptop with a two year old entry level graphics card.

I think it's supposed to be an "ultrabook", and less of a gaming laptop. I also think it's marketed to compete with the high end Dell XPS 13. But who on earth would buy a Huawei over an XPS 13, especially when the XPS is cheaper? Yes I know it's an evetech link, but it's one of the first that came up when I googled it.
