from personal experience Mr Mashile is a strong and somewhat fiery character who speaks very strongly. i was impressed with his dedication to the universal service objective. i suspect that he is a far more political beast than Mandla Langa - i do not know this for fact but it seemed to me that he has either trade union organisation or political activism in his background.
when i met him he was extremely approachable and took great pains to communicate the difficulties of the position of the regulator given the wide variety of interests it must take into account and the differing expectations which different stakeholders (such as members of this forum) have of how it will act
