So I braved the masses in downtown London on a Saturday to get to the Apple Store. I was in need of some retail therapy - what can I say...

Got myself a new keyboard for my Mini. I don't really understand the complaints about the keys. They're not different from any notebook I've worked. Just the Return key is somewhat narrow to my taste - it took about 2 minutes of typing to not hit the pipe/backslash accidentally. Anyway, it's really nice, I already don't think I can go back to my old one. It actually feels like I'm typing faster on this one. It feels more fluid.

Something to be aware of - it takes a 20mb odd download via Software Update to make the volume/media keys work.

Something else. While in the store, waiting for one of the clerks to pay, I had a quick play with an iTouch. Maaaaaannnnn!! It's nice! I didn't really play much with the iPod part of it though - went straight for Safari. It's really usable. By default it shows you the whole page scaled down. Give it some finger stretching (like with photos) and it zooms in. It's the real Safari running - everything I've tried worked as expected.

I also had a quick look at the new iPod Nano - just to see the video playback. I was really disappointed in my phone's capability. It can only do 3gp or whatever format, which is rather low quality. A Seinfeld episode fits into 14MB, to give you an idea. And it looks horrible. And the sound is 8bit mono and of such poor quality it doesn't even sound like Jerry Seinfeld.

So I was keen to see the video on the Nano. Marvellous! They have some demos on - rather high quality video. Looks great, sounds great!

If I wasn't planning on picking up an iPhone in November I would have bought the Nano today.

Oh, one last thing. Asked the clerk when Leopard was coming, since I don't see it mentioned on Apple's website. He said "end of October" and "that usually means in the last week."

I have my credit card ready for a memory upgrade, hard drive upgrade and Leopard for my Macbook, the moment it hits the shelves.

Hmmmmm touch ... me wants....

So am I. Well, my Mini already has as much memory as it can take (1GB sadly) and the biggest 7200rpm drive I can fit in it (just 100gb), but I'm keen to get my hands on the new goodies.

But then, I'm going to be away for most of November, and I might just pick up a new MPB during that time (fingers crossed...) so I might just wait until I get back and the new paycheque rolls around before I buy Leopard.

I'm not sure how quickly I'll be upgrading to Leopard.

I just want finder to be more windows like (yeah I know blasphemy and all that but the Windows Explorer is really good)

What in Explorer do you miss?

Me, I miss right clicking on an MP3 to view the ID3 information - name, album etc etc. (unless I'm missing something in OS X?). I don't want to launch iTunes to view that info as it imports the MP3 into iTunes when launched.

How much did the keyboard cost you?
Should have been £29 for the wired version, £49 for the wireless.

I've just realised that since I installed Teleport I've hardly used my keyboard. :o

Yeah, it was £29. I didn't go for the wireless because:

1. They didn't have stock
2. The reason I bought the new keyboard is to get the USB2 ports. I am contemplating getting the wireless mouse though. For no particular reason :D

adsl3g, the procedure is similar - rightclick --> information. neio, what do you miss?

Esih £29 sounds quite pricey to me. How much would you pay locally? Anyone get a link to the product specs?

Keyboard specs? You could try Apple's support site I suppose.

alf101, I'll try it when I get home (much later tonight) - haven't had a chance.

I must say, I am somewhat disappointed that the wireless one isn't a full size. If it wasn't, and if they had stock at that particular moment, I might have spent the extra dough on it and an extra USB hub.

Fudzy, it is a lot, but then, it has a full aluminium body - I'm pretty sure any other brand in that kind of casing is going to cost a fair bit.

I'd forgotten it isnt full size - I'm actually interested in it now :)
