It's like they have no clue what to do, but keep a veil up.

So they have the staff to police beaches but not the local taverns and areas where the residents flout the "law".

EC went from being the first hotspot and now is sitting as the second lowest active cases in the country (6538) but yet the hotspot status has not been lifted and we cannot use the beaches or parks. But we can all go to indoor places like the shops, movies, theatres, casinos etc because the virus doesn't like confined spaces but rather outdoor spaces as dictated by their "logic".

Morons dictating the "law" to morons who listen to their crap.

I always love how very unclear all of this is. So casinos, galleries, archives, museums, restaurants yes - but not for any social gathering because social gathering is forbidden? So what are you doing at the casino or restaurant?

Can kiddy party venues run? They're outside and usually have < 100 people but are social. So I guess... no?

They can't fight drugs, murder and rape, but they can fight the criminals on the beach. They have a group of 10 with suits and ties available for every criminal surfer.

Well, they need to extend this to rivers as well.

This past weekend there were hundreds of people on the Elandspad river cause they are not allowed to go to the beach.... Not that they are allowed there in the first place without a permit or fishing license. Make fires (also no allowed) and drink... and then give hikers with valid permits kak once drunk as fark. Cops don't do anything.... Wonder why....

Still as clear as mud. No clarity on what is classified as a "social gathering", so people are making up their own minds.

I know of some people who are still convening their book-clubs under the mistaken understanding that a "gathering is classified as 50 or more people". (But the poor surfer on the empty beach has a target on his back...)

At this point, as long as we don't go to level 4 or 5 I'm happy.

Need to keep the CFR going.

If you want to kuier with your mates go to a restaurant where it is safe. Don't bring them over to your COVID hotspot house.

In this case, “beach” means the sandy, pebbly or rocky shore between the high-water mark and low-water mark adjacent to:

Wait, wait, wait. The rocks is now a beach? So people can't go fishing either?

I know surfers, and I know fishermen, but I don't know any surfers who fish.

Ahh I know many surfers who fish...

Granted, not at the same time as that is problematic, but it could be an interesting new sport...
