Is there anyone on this forum that will do something about this after they have hit the 250GB "cap". Then they can be in the news on MYBB about a ICASA complaint or something ? As they are going against what they said although the most annoying thing is that Telkom makes their AUP so vague. Im only on 60GB so far this month so it seems to be going okay for me but i don't really stream as i have got DStv and a google drive with stuff if needed, plus i generally watch sports and you need DStv for that.

I am a journo, and I have plans in place this week to expose them publicly. I will post links here to all the articles and complaints, which I hope you all back up and support.

We all need to lodge complaints with all relevant bodies.

I can confirm that i now also have speeds in region of 256k, this has been reported for over a week now and telkom is not playing game.
Told them im recording my calls and i intend putting a stop to there debit order...
Still no response and i have cancelled there debit order....

Anybody who would like me to join them in this fight is more than willing to contact me. I have convinced about 3 people to jump on this deal as the advertising stipulated that only for NNTP and p2p will the speed be throttled.

Agreed!

We need to do something about this as its false advertising amongst many others.
Even the notifications that was sent out informing us we are high usage.... Even if your intention was to curb usage because there was no communications of what threshold they consider acceptable there was no way to even keep tabs. (Which in the first place we shouldn't have to as its "uncapped")

I like the analogy of traveling on the on our roads without a single speed sign and then getting tickets for speeding... WTF

This is what is upsetting:

I was quite happy on my mweb premium uncapped account, FUP was 950Gb, attempted to go VDSL, line wasnt stable enough. The T&Cs wen i took this contract out was 50gb p2p and NNTP. This is bull****, i want to go back to adsl where im not cheated... wtf is 250gb anyways? I also reinstalled Windows this month, redownloaded 2 games, GTA5 and BF4, together they are 140gb. We have been cheated but these fools again. And for all those say its fair... its not fair, i was straight up about my usage all along, i was paying R1600pm for internet because i knew i was a high user (and the funny thing is im not downlaoding 24/7). Fair enough throttle if its causing **** BUT let me get out of this contract, this is not what i signed up for!!!! Changing the rules 4 months in to a contract is not fair!!!!!

Feel free to mention that I received a sales call from Telkom this week in which I was assured that there is no shaping at all if you aren't using it for P2P or NNTP. So they're still marketing based on unlimited streaming/gaming/normal downloads etc.

Agreed!

This pic from a mate of mine explains things a bit and still somewhat relevant!

Any confirmation of these thresholds beyond one or two anecdotes? I've seen shoddy speeds once or twice, but it's always normalised over the course of a couple of hours. How many of you are currently in this 200 - 250 gigabyte stretch, so we can compare info? Same for those on the 'wrong' side of 250 gigs... It's only a 3rd into the month so I would assume not many have reached that point, but those who have, have all of your connections gone to pot?

Thanks for the tip. Even the site still goes on about how "uncapped" the service is.

But they will argue it is uncapped. Just throttled to point of capping you.
Hope you take screenshots of everything.

I have been shaped to 256kbs. I reached 250GB on Friday night. A friend of mine, who also uses the service, has the same speed as me, and he reached 250GB last week. Telkom confirmed with me over Twitter, saying that my Ping, which is 30, confirms that there is no network issue.

Even this pic is far from the truth. 0.5mbps is double what we are actually getting, and we have it all day. I wish it only lasted for a few hours hahaha!

Does your friend stay near enough to you that you might be connected to the same tower? Network issues can't be ruled out on ping alone... but it does sound like the kind of nonsense Telkom's Twitter team might come up with. :p

Don't misunderstand me though: I too will come down on Telkom like a ton of bricks if this proves accurate. I just want to ensure that we're certain of our position. :)

Of coarse the ping will be low unless you using your internet and doing the ping test. But yeah they snapped you just wonder when they will admit and say okay you shaped

No, I stay in Linksfield and he is in Benoni. Another friend who is connected to the same tower as me and stays up the road, is experiencing no issues at all with his connection.
