Because he downloads on a streaming product hogging the bandwidth during downloads.

To be fair, it's not only a streaming service- I just used it as my main example because it seems to be the people most affected by the capping. :)

To keep this an "uncapped" and viable solution Telkom may need to consider the following:
- Full speed to 600GB then 10Mbps to 750GB then 4Mbps to 900GB, 2Mbps from there with a 950GB cap
They need to allow for a way to manage your usage and see when you are approaching certain soft cap lines.
- Allow for an off peak usage from 12 midnight to 6am that does not count towards your general usage where gamers can
cue downloads that would otherwise cause additional congestion during peak hours, maybe cap this at 200GB

Just my 2 cents worth

300GB will allow you 3.33 hours a day Netflix, this excludes all other data you may need to use the net, PC updates and the likes. It's certainly not feasable and too far removed from the original product offering to make sense.

I got my contract through Mobile Talk, not Telkom directly... I jus spoke to them, they said cancellation is fine, they will arrange to collect the hardware then cancellation will occur immediately after. Blady mobile talk never gave an external antenna, i bought mine seperately, any1 looking for an antenna can inbox me... Lets say R1000... Bought it in June brand new for R1800.

Just please check no surprise cancellation fees or admin fees etc. After Telkom debacle best to get every assurance in writing.

Yeah, I'm not using precious megabytes on speed tests until I know what the new terms are. :D

That's the exact position i don't want to have to be in. To watch what i do on the net to conserve bandwidth.
If it was a case, i would have subscribed to a capped account then.

So funny story in all of this *****storm thats going on currently.

On the Newshost forms there was the 1 guy who got taken to town called Wambalanse or something like that and he kept on pushing 1.6tb a month bragging about his 9.2Mbps download speeds.

So people started to take him to town about it because he just clearly could not give a damn about it. And everytime some called him out he had the opinion that its "Unlimited" and he will abuse it any way he likes. So turns out he updates his 720p anime collection to 1080p and once a month reinstall his pc or something and just re-download his complete steam library because he can was his comments.

He probably already put his cancellation so he can go and abuse some other service and I am so happy about that cause the internet needs less idiots like that on this product and more responsible people.

I am all for Telkom though to provide what we signed up for cause there are months where you might want to start a new series and play some catch-up (I personally would love to binge Supernatural from Season 1 again) and then you would be screwed.

My honest opinion about this would be to remove any type of capped limit. Reduce the speed from Full on 200 and then per 50gb reduce the speed by 10% each increment until you reach a min of 2mbps. But thats just my suggestion.

PS.... Wambalanse... hahaha you chop. We told you

Your facts are a bit off, it was around 1.2TB not 1.6TB also I do not watch childrens tv so I did not download any ****ty anime.

My speeds are still more than fine, getting 60mb on average and 30 when it is a bit congested, so I will not be cancelling at this point in time

Fully agreed in principle, and why the majority would've signed up in the first place. Given my lack of alternatives for the immediate future - Vumatel is still a few months away - the only option I have is to work within any newly set boundaries. As long as they are reasonable.

Otherwise a few more people will need to be CC'd into the next email.
