Well a new cricket bat has been invented specifically for 20/20 Cricket, it's called the Mongoose bat. It looks like this:

It has a long handle...
They should keep the normal look, just make it wider...?

Actually they just americanising the sport now!:(
I know what you mean. :(

We should really start worrying when the bats become round, with a thicker end at the bottom.

Seems like a fair enough idea for 20/20- not for other forms of the game, though.

The shorter they they make the batting area ... the more they make it look like a thing that teachers would use to give unruly kids a proper hiding.

I feel sorry for the bowlers haha but then the crowd is not there to watch them take wickets in 20/20

Batsmen will find it difficult to play defensive shots... especially to balls pitched just short of a length. Anything short or full pitched will travel very far!!

In a 120 -ball game, there is not a whole lot of that anyway.

People are saying this gives even more advantage to the batsmen, however, a well-picthed yorker or even a good length ball that moves in the air and necessitates a defensive shot, will be even harder to keep out with this bat. Seems like a decent compromise...

only way to stop a yorker is by double stepping it , swing and don't miss! turn it into a low full tos. This bat looks look it might split at the bottom.

looks cool, but i've got another idea, why do they need bowlers, why not set up a bowling machine and just watch the batsmen smack the crap out of it! :D

I think it's a crap idea - the existing bats can already reach the boundary with ease. Besides, it no longer becomes a new format of the game, but rather a wholly different game once you start changing the equipment one can use. It's like introducing rocket engines to cars and pretending it's still Formula 1. Or adding springs to a rugby ball to help kick it further - bloody stupid. Probably some stupid yank's idea...
