New MTN contract , can they port my prepaid nr over?

Hey guys,

I'm currently on prepaid and i've just applied online for this DEAL. I would ideally like to port my existing prepaid number over to that number, would I be able to do this before I get locked in with a new number some how?

If not it's not that much of a train smash, as I would just use it as a data sim , but it would be nice.

Any advice here would be welcome? Thanks

Nope.

MTN seems kind of clueless - They say they can't find that deal I applied for, so they cannot assist. The deal thats literally on their website. Wtf?

I really live in South Africa huh?
 
Update : After being transferred to 3 different ladies [ They kept saying please hold and then randomly transferred me ] I spoke to a lady that said one my new sim card gets delivered I phone 083 123 9622, and then they can do a Number Change and port me over to the new sim.

[ Posting this here for anyone that might have the same problem in the future ]

MTN customer service gets a 1/5 from me.
 
They might have bad customer service but they are still the best network in the country. Welcome to the bozza network.

Just wait until you can't answer the security questions for the sim swop and lose the number anyway.
 
Hey guys, maybe someone here can assist?

I transferred my prepaid number over to my new contract number but now only the data works, I'm unable to send or receive calls or SMSs. I've tried resetting the networks settings, restarting the phone etc.. I even bought R20 airtime for the number and it says I don't have enough airtime to make a call??

I'm unable to enable the calls or SMSs for some reason? This is very frustrating as this is my main work number and I get calls all day...

Its an MTN MYCHOICE 28GB package - So should be able to make calls, and the guy at MTN did confirm that over the phone

What was the outcome? I had a similar issue last year and eventually just ported to Vodacom.

Yep exactly the same for me. Moved over to Vodacom.

They barred all my calls and for some reason couldn't remove them. Spoke to atleast 5 different departments that day and dealt with at least 15 different people. Useless isn't even the word.
