New online voter registration system for South Africans abroad

Good news for voting from outside South Africa

South Africans living or travelling abroad can register to vote online for the country's national elections for the first time.

The online voter registration system for South African expats was rolled out in early December 2023, after a two-month delay.

We need legislation that mandates that should more than 25k south african's register within a foreign city, it should get a voting location.

Valid ID and passport (physical Passport, with an expiry date greater than Voting Day) is required on voting day
