May I ask the 'where to go steps' on the interface to find the place for allowing/disallowing apps to run in the background? (for when I get my 2GB )

I say go for the Xiaomi Note 3.

Got a Redmi Note 3 on the wechat special and its awesome. Blown away by it. If the other Xiaomi phones are anything like this I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

Yes, but it was on 50% discount through a wechat special. I you can wait a bit check if there is another wechat special next month.

I updated from MIUI 7.5 to 8 (still on Android 6) and love it.

Won't be easy to find covers or batteries unless you import, like most of the other phones on this thread.

removable Battery? and cover included in the box?

A cover is not included in the box unless you can find a bundle that includes it. Just make sure you get the soft cover as the other one doesn't feel as good in your hands and you may find yourself dropping the phone.
And yes, it does have a removable battery.
