soon you will have a grass tax, because you have a nice lawn outside,
and then you will have another tax, tax for the taxes you were already paying,

Well, I do believe foreign business should pay tax in the country of their user base, but sadly that tax will simply be passed on to the consumer.

If we had a none corrupt government this would be a no-brainer, but because we have the ANC this is a very bad idea. You don't want to fund the ANC.

Either Netflix, FB and Amazon will pull all services from South Africa or they will increase the price so much that it won't be viable for us anymore.

If FB pulls out, not a big loss as it's garbage in any case. But Netflix and Amazon might be a bit sucky, so I'll just dust off my old trusty VPN.

You forgot a grass cutting tax for when you mow the lawn, and a fine if you don't mow the lawn.

dont forget the fine "tax" and administration "fees" for getting the documents in the mail.
soon enough our ANC crazies might make a etoll documents in the mail "tax"

we turning into Zim faster than I ever realized,
at this rate Zimbos will go back home, saying give us murgabage anytime, its at least better than SA.

Article said:
Another reason South Africa may consider imposing a tax on major international companies that operate locally is to account for a shortfall in its budget, which has been decimated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blaming COVID for that shortfall, classic ANC, classic. Probably rooting from Apartheid as well in some random way...

And then toaster tax, because your toaster has the ability to toast Sasko bread

nonsense, everybody knows our ANC Crazies will introduce a Toaster license,
you will need to pay money every month and there will be inspections on the size and quality of toasters

if you get a fancy Russell Hobbs toaster you will pay more,

So because the government sucks at literally everything they do, they feel more tax is the solution.
Yeah naa, this is going way past ridiculous now.

ZA Consumers will pay the tax - not companies!!!

Among these proposed changes is the implementation of a digital tax on global companies such as Netflix, Amazon, and Facebook, who operate in a number of countries around the world.

The commission argued that these companies should pay tax on their South African operations and should not be allowed to avoid tax obligations.

Assume ZA impose a 30% "digital company tax" on products/operations in ZA.

Your Netflix premium package goes from R169 to R169 + R50.70 Tax = R219.70

Don't be fooled by the wording - consumer pays more tax.

But you're forgetting the new VPN tax, you'll then have to pay.
