Hey guys!

I'm porting to MTN from cellc, now, it should have been done a few days ago, but it still hasn't happened.

The people at the shop told me that I won't be needing a new SIM card, but I found that hard to believe, as I thought the SIM card stores network access info on it.

So I'm not sure now, should they have given me a new SIM card or is it possible for them to only port my number to MTN while I keep the cellc SIM?

Thanks in advance for the input guys! :)

Yup... you need a MTN sim card, with an MTN number on it... they then 'link' your CellC number to that number in the porting... at least I think it works like that.. I know I needed to buy a new starter pack.

You need a new sim yes. I ported my VC number to MTN and had to buy a MTN simcard, buggers charged me R136 for the thing plus R100 connection fee. A lot of money seeing that the MyCall 100 contract only costs me R29 pm including CLIP and itemised billing.

You have to get a new sim. As soon as the port is done your Cell C sim will become inactive. I heard a lot of different stories from different people in the shops and callcentres. It's amazing how some of the people in these cell shops don't know what the hell they're doing... and don't even talk about the damn callcentres.
