For f sakes why did they not introduce the keyless entry into the Honda Jazz South african version?

The literally drilled a hole in the middle of the door of the South African version. It looks so bad it looks like they took it to a backstreet mechanic.

The salesman says the South African market is not ready for keyless entry but I would think either it's a cost thing or it's too easy to circumvent for professional thieves and car insurance won't see it as forced entry.

Security

When it comes to the peace of mind of keeping your car secure, the Jazz doesn’t disappoint. Standard security features include alarm/immobiliser, remote central locking, and auto door lock with selective unlocking.
Innovative keyless entry

Move into the future. Both convenient and safe, the Honda Civic 4-door Sedan's keyless entry system and remote boot release make hassling with your keys a thing of the past.

From Honda.co.za and pretty sure that means keyless entry and the Honda Civic has it.

Pretty sure planted a feather in the ground and was pretty sure a chicken would hatch

I went to Honda today and they had 3 on the showroom floor including the top range 1.5 CVT Honda Jazz.
All three had the bullet holes in the door. I am so disappointed in Honda. I hate it when car manufacturers do this.

Lying through his teeth. A lot of cars in SA have keyless entry.

Not at the one here in PMB you probably looked at the lowest models which did not come with it.

Sigh. I just said I looked at the highest model. I'm not talking about remote control locking and unlocking. That't been in cars since the 80s.

Did you see the key hole in the Honda Jazz car door when you were in Honda PMB?

Nope did not see any key hole and shouldn't need one with keyless entry anyway

Not like having a keyhole makes a difference to me

Now it starts turning.

From honda.co.za's website
bullet hole.jpg

I don't mind the keyhole next to the door handle but when you to bend down to put the key in is plain stupid.

The reason they can't put it next to the handle is because the car designer never planned the car to have a keyhole. The handle and the body curve next to the the handle was designed to not have room for a key that is why you can't drill a hole there. The only spot left was much lower in the car door.

I don't want to argue the merits of cars with or without keyless entry but having an ugly workaround for a keyhole in a car designed for keyless entry is stupid.

It so impractical. Apart from making the driver door look ugly and having to bend down. Key scratches in that area will be much more noticeable.
I bet it pretty easy to break with a crowbar too.

I can't remember any car ever sold in South Africa with the keyhole that much lower than the door handle.

Dont think there has ever been one as it has always been just by the handle.

They should have made space for a key in the design.

According to skimread, it was designed without a key in mind, hence no accommodation for it was made.

What is with this African way of thinking. You want the latest iPhone Samsung Galaxy but as soon as it comes to cars it's like Hell No I wan't a key.

Stop holding the continent in the dark ages like we are too stupid to understand keyless cars.

What I would love to know if this keyless system happens to malfunction then how is someone going to get in their car without a backup key?

There is usually a hard access lock somewhere.

The Renaults have the lhs door lock under a plastic pop off on the handle.

What do you do if anything goes wrong on your car. It's called a warranty.

I think there is something larger at play here. Imagine the car gets hijacked. You report it as stolen and inform Honda. 8 years down the line the new owner, who bought this amazing deal from a friend of his cousin, needs a replacement key. Goes to Honda, who picks up the car is stolen.

We know what a problem car theft is in South Africa. Driving a car which is less a highjack risk is surely a plus. Also cars with keyless tech should have lower insurance premiums.

Yep at least it comes with free 1 year AA service if something goes wrong.
