New speeding fines and demerit points for South Africa explained

The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) has released a new document to prepare motorists for the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) process which will be implemented throughout South Africa on 1 July 2021.

Aarto is legislation aimed at improving driver behaviour, encouraging motorists to be law-abiding, and reducing road accidents.

Most of the time u don't get the fine within 32 days.. Thus losing the 50% discount anyway

No, I don't know what gives you the impression.
Because you check frequently. Logic dictates it shouldn't be necessary for a law abiding citizen to check.

Wasn't this points system supposed to be implemented years ago?

The best way to see if you have any underlying illnesses is to go for regular check-ups, try and see if you wrap your logic around that one.

Just the fact that there is a "discount" when a safety related law is broken, tells me this is a money making scheme and can get fcked for it.

So we relying on the post office for this. The South African post office. That’s always closed, on strike or in my town the central public toilet/ drug user hangout. Yes I’ve seen people peeing on post boxes. I’ve also seen ppl injecting a d smoking heaven knows what just next to my box. If AARTO thinks I’m risking my life to get a traffic fine THEY HAVE HIGH HOPES! also what’s the plan for taxis. Or will they just strike like they did with etolls and not have to deal with this either.

Regular being once a year. You also don't check for every illness that you have no indicated chance of having. So...

lol, the demerit system has been coming since... what, the early 2000's? still not implemented? Gee I wonder why

Taxi driver strike looming or are they exempt again......

Every year so far for the last 10 years there was supposed to be some new dermit point system. Our useless government is incapable of implementing such a thing and/or managing it correctly.

Nothing will come of this.
The current system were they just post you an illegitimate fine for speeding is enough of a revenue source and there's enough stupid people that pay those fines.
