Swimming's latest bodysuits are like a form of doping and should be banned, Britain's double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington has said.

The world championships begin in Rome on Sunday amid controversy after governing body FINA decided to allow the vast majority of new all-polyurethane suits, which make swimmers go faster and could prompt another flurry of world records.

I think it's a good thing to ban them. I mean, it's supposed to be about natural sporting talent after all.

Meph are these magical suits? Nope they are just designed to help you go faster, your natural talent is what will win the races.

I still don't get why if all swimmers are wearing the same suits why there is no natural talent?

I think the issue is that of world records. Older records will be broken because of the suits, not neccessarily because the swimmers are faster.

Running shoe technology has come a long way as well. As has technology in every sport.

But the issue I have with this is that not all of the swimmers are wearing these suits...

yes... they should swim naked.

Thank god for the invention of underwater cams. It would only be applicable to women's swimming though, as it would make men less, er, streamlined...

There would be a great upsurge in sponsorship of women's swimming as well - I think this is a great idea...

Its like when running atheletes wear shoes... that aids them!!!

Or when the Tour de France okes dont all use bmx`s... those fancy models of bikes aid them!

Hope the chicks at Clifton don't start wearing these suits.

I say ban them now.

If records are the concern, ban full body swimsuits. The advantage should be considerably lower. I doubt naked swimming will be well accepted, I mean a lot of swimmers are still children!

It started of with swimcaps but, now it is just ridiculous.

It really must take the fun out of the sport when you can no longer even feel the water rushing over your body...
