My area (Pretoria East) went purple on the coverage map this week. Friday morning, I requested a call-back on the Telkom website, to order a service. I was impressed that I got the call within a few minutes, then - Eish!!!
- The Telkom system was showing my address as "future fibre" , even thought Telkom.co.za shows 100 gig fibre available. After much discussion, it became clear that the map has a glitch. Their system was showing me as being in Krugersdorp. Eventually we got that sorted, so we could commence with the order.
- When I said that I want the LIT box included free, as per their advertisements, the lady said no way - I can choose EITHER the LIT OR the modern on the 10 meg unlimited home package.
I pointed out that their website has a table that includes the installation, modem and LIT free, but she said that the website was wrong.
I then said that Page 3 of the September/October Telkom magazine also shows that everything is included.
Oops, please wait while I discuss this with my manager, she says. She comes back and says that the manager agrees with her. I can choose either the modem or the LIT free, but must pay for the other one.
I sort of lost my cool and refused to accept this. She offered to let me speak to the manager. After about 2 minutes on hold, she comes back and says no problem, the manager has ok'ed that I get the deal as advertised.
- We go through the routine to log the order and she says that I will receive a confirmation email with the details of the order. Yay...
I have not received any confirmation that the order has been placed. The My Telkom web shows zero orders outstanding.
QUESTION: How long does it take after the phone call before confirmation is described?
