New The PC Build Thread

Anyone one know of a guide or steps to take to install the minimum of windows and not all their junk and bloatware.
Don't bother.
Stock install OS from microsoft website, then de-bloat - sourcing premade windows images from dodgy sites isn't something I could reccomend.
There were a bunch of scripts back in the day, windows de-crap-ifier

  • Runs NFS Unbound like a charm on 900fps Low 60fps. (I couldn't do this with the previous setup).
  • Tried FC 25, but I think it is a problem with the game, because the moment I have to kick off a match on load-in, it exits. (Maybe I should try FC 24, since it ran perfectly well on 720p 60fps Low with the previous setup)
  • Also tried CS2 on 1080p Low 60fps, works like a charm. (Couldn't even play on 720p 30fps without it looking like the game wants to crawl to a halt every 5 seconds).
Currently redownloading MW2019 to give it a whirl on better settings and to better test the new system.

@UrBaN963 So what happens now?
Have you tried using FSR.
I just have a Ryzen APU on my pc and for the little gaming I do its fine. Then when my son was waiting now for 2 weeks for his new pc and was at home finished with exams, I bought an RX 580 8gb for R800 so he could game bit better on my pc.
So on 1080p the games he play ran OK at about 60fps but that gpu ran overtime and the fans was full blast the whole time. Then we put graphics on720p with FSR. So quality was still about the same but now we get around 100 fps and the fans is never at top speeds.

Another question about this single channel ram. I also just have 1x16gb 2666mhz ram stick. Never really bothered me.
Now what will be best. Buy another 16gb 2666mhz of the same cheap ram. Or rather 2x 8gb 3200mhz sticks?

Either will work, in theory. DDR4 RAM can have issues with mismatched sets, but in my experience your chances of that being an issue are quite slim if they're vaguely matched in terms of timing etc.

RAM will always run at the speed of the slowest module, so even if you added a DDR4-3600 stick, it would just run at 2666.

2x8GB 3200 would be faster than 2x8GB 2666, though the difference isn't massive. At the current pricing it's probably worth it if you can flog the 2666 stick to recover some capital.

Yes biggest problem will be to get a matching 16gb stick.
The 2x8gb 3200-3600mhz sticks is also not too expensive secondhand if you don't care for rgb. R500-700

Oh and no, my MB only have 2 slots, so I don't plan to use the 16gb stick with the 8gb sticks

Yea then your ideal solution is 2x 3200 sticks, but just about any combination will work.

Also you wouldn't need a matching stick. I've had 4 different sticks of different speeds AND capacities in one system before, worked fine.

Mixed memory is a bit better in an intel system, but AMD is finicky about memory.

No it isn't.

It used to be in 2016 when AM4 launched, but we're 8 years of driver and BIOS updates later. It's a non-issue.

Dual channel, xmp profiles, timing. I mean you can mix memory but you'll throw off things.
If you have 2 sticks of the same memory, than put that in 1 and 3 to get at least some of the dual channel

Just tested MW2019. 1080p Low/Medium 60fps. Runs and plays like a dream.
First-time shaders loaded in about two mins. (On my old system, 40 mins...)

Played CS2, same result as yesterday.

It's only the FC games that don't seem to cooperate. I managed to play an offline friendly on FC 25 (1080p Low 60fps), but I can't play the online modes on either 24 or 25... Which is odd, still the crash as I'm about to kick-off in an online Rivals match...

I don't know what is with AMD, so their latest driver remedied some old issues and brought back older issues. I reinstalled it now twice, note clean driver installs, and at least games are detecting the correct driver version, but now CPU optimisations are messed up. I see people already complained about issues on AMD's discussion board and Redidt. I am leaving it there until they push out a new update this month. Just strange.

What is even stranger is that the CPU runs a bit hotter now. Not by a lot, but it was immediately noticeable. Clearly is being used more, but not in the best way.

I have no issues with this system though, the only game that pushed the temps above 70 is Cyberpunk, but that is with SMT enabled. It hardly ever goes above 65 in use scenarios. The GPU never goes above 65 and in most use scenarios it sits below 60. I can't complain. This Deepcool case is cool.

The PC is hardly used to games, all data. Still shopping around to replace my old gaming PC.

Wait, you've installed a driver for your CPU?
