After reading some of the digg comments I'm definitely queuing this up to download. It will be worth the 134mb.

Where were you on 9/11. I was at home preparing for my trip overseas, I was sitting at my PC listening to radio and they had a news flash about a plane hitting the one tower. I switched on the TV and E-TV had a live broadcast from Fox News. I saw the 2nd plane hit live on TV. Man, getting goose pimples.

Was going home from varsity at the time. Listened to the news on radio (time when first plane hit) and thought it was nothing, just a small Cessna probably. Got home watched the news and saw the live footage. Was so shocked and when they switched to washington it felt like the US was going down. the collapse of the north tower was the defining memery for me.

Was travelling on the N1 past Ultra City on the way to Pta. Strange how one can remember things like that....

Writing an email to my then girlfiend who lived in America at a PC in the youth hostel I worked at in Edinburgh. some yank came in rushing around trying to find a TV to watch the news (which we didn't have at the hostel). Tried the BBC website which wouldn't load (same with all news sites..) went down to our local and watched the whole thing happen on TV. The next few days at the hostel were some of the most hectic we ever had with phone calls galore comming in and trying to make sleeping arragnements for those with cancelled flights etc..

Weird times.

Oh and my girlfriends father was at the pentagon on a training course so she was very worried. Took the best part of 24 hours before I could get a call through to her due to congestion on the networks. Also I don;t know about here in SA, but Hotmail and most other webmail services were down too..

Had just gotten home and was listening to the radio when they said a small light aircraft had hit one of the towers of the WTC. Spent the rest of the day cycliing through the news channels and calling and getting calls from friends. My dad was at Pittsburgh airport trying to catch a flight to JFK. Luckily managed to call through before the lines jammed, all flights were grounded then obviously. Weird how you still get goose bumps so many years later. When they showed air force one being loaded with supplies and other shots of Washington it really did seem like the US might be going down.

Was at the office surfing the net on our 32k diginet line (lol), and heard over 5FM that a small plane hit the WTC.. I immediately thought terrorist attack as hitting one building in the middle of nowhere is impossible.. little while later Darren Scott said another plane hit the other building and I knew for sure.

One of the worst parts of the day was the people telling stories of others jumping - and of course CNN playing the moment of impact over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. :/

They were "pulled" which is a term used for a controlled demolition.

I was working as a currency trader at the time and the television was permanently switched to CNBC. I remember Mark Haines was on and he reported that there's a fire in one of the towers, cause unknown. Then the second plane hit.
The thing that bothered me that day was that we were sent software upgrades about an hour before the crash. After the upgrade it was impossible to trade because of a bug in the software. So no money was to be made from the falling dollar. Makes you think...

What was I doing? Sitting here in PE in shock, remembering that I used to race my remote controlled car in the hallways when I was a little kid, relieved that my dad no longer worked there, and hoping my friends had made it out.

WTC 7 was supposedly 'pulled'. According to many of the digg comments its pretty obvious that the tower was brought down by the plane.

Wait - what will we hear next - that its a conspiracy to discredit the conspiracy theorists?

Yes, Larry Silverstein admitted that 7 was pulled. What a coincidence that the explosives were pre-fit just in case they want to bring the tower down

The two main towers however were build to take a direct hits from 707's. Here is the WTC construction manager explaining this.

The tower(s) were 1 and 2 WTC not 7. Completely different structures.

There is some debate as to exactly what happened. It is unlikely that the planes themselves were directly responsible or that the hijackers could have anticipated that crashing the planes into the buildings would result in them collapsing.

I tuned into CNN after the first plane hit. They were saying it might have been a small plane crashing into the WTC. I went outside to tell my mother about it and when I came back to the T.V the second plane had already hit. I then had to go pick up my sister from work and heard about the collapse of the towers on the radio. When my dad came home about an hour after the last incident he didn't even know it had happend and thought we were joking. Of course when he saw the T.V he went white.

I was at work. My first real job. Heard about it on IRC, thought they were kidding, went to the break room and convinced the guys there to switch over from Big Brother(!!!!) to see the news, and it was all over the place... when the second plane hit the morons in the break room were already complaining that they wanted to carry on watching Big Brother. Classy...

I was at work, took the train back from Cape Town and chatted to alot of folk on the train before me who just heard the news (I was more informed, yay internet)

Wasn't much of an impact in my life (no tears etc) not even mad at anyone. But I did say "well, they were looking for ****, now they got it"
