You joke - my pool is next to the road :/ In fact, if it gets bad - Google Maps is going to prove very useful to the guys wanting to liberate pools of their water.

LOL, I see a 'business opportunity' for razor wire around visible sources of water! Maybe like cash in transit, use sachets of pink dye to indelibly stain both the water and anyone who attempts to forcible access.

Hope nobody thinks I am being facetious. The pressure-reduction/water-shedding in our block has been extremely stressful, and it is theraputic to have something to laugh about...

This is crazy, does the CoCt think that come the winter rainfall, all will be redeemed? Idiots should have been building Dsalt five years ago...

It has rained in the SW-Cape every winter for about the last 50 million years. I am moderately optimistic that it will rain this year. /sarcasm

Of course how much it will rain is unknown, and it will take at least 3 rainfall seasons to get back to 'normal', whatever that is...

I'm considering those sharp roller's - and electric fencing - although the pool is covered by the alarm - I doubt armed response will do much.

This isn't actually a joke. My neighbour lived in PE during a severe drought some years ago, and they would steal the water out the pool during the night. Says many people woke up to find their pool empty in the am.

  . Not to mention how stupid this warning is - purchased bottled water won't affect the municipal water supply! Urgh.

OHANNESBURG – The Water and Sanitation Department has warned Gauteng residents against sending bottled water to drought stricken Cape Town as they risk putting strain on their own supplies.

The city faces running out of water entirely by 16 April but the department believes that ‘Day Zero’ can and will be avoided.

Schools, companies and communities have been donating water bottles and tanks that will be sent to the Mother City while Capetonians wait for their first winter rains.

The Water and Sanitation Department’s Sputnik Ratau says Gauteng residents must be careful not to create their own water crisis.

“There’s a reversal of the strain into the integrated Vaal River system and it might end up with worse situation if we carry on with this practice.”

It's brilliant. Sending water will alleviate the problem and they don't want that. They want people to keep on buying into the day zero concept and buy water this side.

Simple economics and political corruption.

Turns out that a great deal of bottled water supplyers are pulling from municipal supplies

Of course they are. The best you can hope for is that the water is being pushed through a filter process before being put into the bottles.

The issue is the water is NOT flowing through the buyer's water meter.

Had a meeting with Helen Zille today, schools will have water trucked in and teachers will have our daily ration delivered to us.

It better include the non teaching staff as well. Would be piss poor if they make that distinction.

Most of them are changing this now, and starting to use water from tankers (trucks) from non water-stressed areas.

unfortunately people that are stocking up are grabbing it. maybe if you contact one of the water companies directly. my mom said the pnp near her was crazy the other day as people were queuing at water shelfs as they just unpacked new boxes of 5l. and they were all gone again within an hour.
