Got mine down from 22KL to 13KL.

Household of 4. I don't think I can cut down much more than that. My opposite neighbour has a well point and hit water at about 3 meters. I'm thinking of putting one in before the end of the year.

Im getting a well point drilled this friday. They stop at 12m so 2 options; 9 meters or 12 meters but if I can give advice, dont let them stop at 3m although you live very close to the Lourensford river. I have heard from many people that due to the drought the 3m points dry up quickly unless there is enough rain.

I told my guy to go down to 12m and I want the 1.1kw pump just to be certain.

I'm waiting to do it in summer when the water table is lower and was planning on going about 6 to 9m. Price quoted for 12m and pump?

Who you using? Do they come out to Somerset West? PM his contact details please.

Yes I do know. I go onto the CT municipal website where I can see my water consumption (as opposed to paying a water bill and judging it from that).

Under 4kl's a month. No payment required as far as I know.

Now, what does the size of your property, your pool, a jacuzzi and 3 dogs have to do with anything?

As far as you know? For someone who monitors his water "on the CT municipal website" instead of his water bill - you'd think you'd know if you pay for water. You know the municipal bill has you usage on, right?

Now, what does the size of your property, your pool, a jacuzzi and 3 dogs have to do with anything?

You're a bit ignorant if you think these have nothing to do with water use.

It's not about reducing water that's what the city gets wrong. It's about generating water. If you have 100l total and restrict from 10 to 5 to 1 you are only delaying the inevitable point where there is no water left. Also people are using less water because it's winter. My grass and garden are looking great without watering.

Don't agree. Yes, generating water is important, but curbing water usage is even more so. If we delay "Day Zero" to next winter we can maybe scrape by. Although, the City needs to be damn sure that their flicking pipres are not at fault here.

Just switch to using smaller dams that are full. Problem solved.

I don't know if you're being serious/not, but people out there actually believe this kind of thing. I've heard people saying that all we need to do is just build a pipeline from Gauteng, where they have more water.

Disagree, generating water is more important than curbing usage.

Firstly, if there is no rain next year, no amount of "curbing" will make the situation any better.
Secondly, the city needs to provide (or the very least enabled or cater for) this service of water and quite frankly, they've had years to prepare for this.

Simple as that, hey. Just use another dam. I must remember to flip the switch when I get home to use a fuller dam. :crylaugh: :p
