The drought is not an event that may or may not happen in the future, it's already happening.
True, but most people are only going to realize it’s real once they’re queuing for water.

If we could just get rid of all the poor people I'm sure this problem will solve itself.
Welcome to the reality of Cape Town being a water scares region. Now comes the part of changing attitudes and behaviours. Yeah, there will be the normal bitching and moaning. - end of the day, the days of lushness and taking water for granted, in the region, is over.
Machines are the new slaves.in the short run maybe, but then the rich wont have any slaves to sustain their wealth or themselves for that matter

Lack of water is not the root problem here. Lack of infrastructure and proper planning is.
I wonder what the mybb brigade would have said if the city wanted to spend Rxx million on water projects in 2013 or 2014 with overflowing dams?![]()

To mitigate the effects of less rainfall, water should be regarded as a pricey commodity and not a abundant resource.
Oh boy here we go again, put on your 20/20 hindsight glasses everyone
I don't think a single person has yet told me how the city was meant to expect the worst drought in 1000 years? Or that typically a system is designed for 97% availability, ie can deal with 1 in 33 year events. Or how the dams were overflowing in 2013 and 2014... Nonsense. The unemployed benefits exactly zero people.in the short run maybe, but then the rich wont have any slaves to sustain their wealth or themselves for that matter
Every now and then the entire Century City / Royal Ascot is without hot water, as the pressure drops below the point needed to activate the geysers. I fully expect to have no hot water in summer. It's a disaster waiting to happen.***** me, they turned the water pressure waaaaay down in Vredehoek. Even my water saving shower head isn't coping very well anymore.
Thing is that squatter camps don't have individual water points, one tap is shared amongst several families/squatters. Just an observation.Good thing this won't affect squatter camps... due to "health reasons". I'm sure the health reasons are not wanting to have **** burnt. Screw the people that actually pay for the infrastructure and services.
Obviously our premier also won't be affected - with her new water system - and I bet we won't see the major queuing daily for water.
My project for this summer is to prepare my house for next winter - I don't want to rely on the inept local government.
