New Windows 10 Pro (DSP) Product Key unreadable - anything I can do?

So, I got a brand new PC, along with a Windows 10 Pro DSP pack. Opened it up, and tried to remove the silver stuff over the product key. It started smudging, and then the more I tried to fix it, the worse it got, to a point that it become unreadable. Around 4-5 characters I'm unsure of. I've tried guessing them, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Is there anything I can do? Will I be able to return it to the shop I bought it from? (it's only 1 day old). From what I've read, Microsoft will not assist at all, and this is quite an expansive mistake to make just because the damn silver rub-off stuff didn't rub off well.

It hasn't been installed on my PC yet. It's a brand new PC with a brand new (sealed on arrival) Windows 10 Pro DSP pack.

+1 Their stupid security thing has become an inconvenience, It's their fault

You were sold a pirated copy.

Either way, contact MS.

I had the exact same issue.
The trick is to gently scratch it with your nail, anything else will mess it up.

You need to call microsoft, give them all the details you have, product code etc etc.
They will then give you a key.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I contacted Microsoft Support and they issued me a new code without question. Took about 15min. Phew!
