personally most people that start a new char now are nuts

remember there are going to be alot more people rejoining wow just so they can make a new char and play the expansion.bareing in mind you have 2 months to get your toon from 1 to 60 which if done proply you can do no problem.Theres no point been lvl 45 when the expansion comes out and all your lvl 60 friends go and quest instead of leveling you.

also dont reroll a toon on a full realm, there will be no joy sitting for 3 days LFG to do ZF cos everyone is lvl 60!!I know that in my current guild there will be a couple people making new toon dreanaie/Blood elfs and the new classes BUT they will be power leveling like crazy with the aid of high level players.

so play the game but most realms will be over run by 60s or wait for a new realm to be opened up by Blizz,I do believe Blizz will be bringing new realms for the expansion to avoid cheating ect ect

Its the perfect time to make a 60 just before Burning Crusade, cause once TBC gets here everyone is once again at a level playing field. Quest items at 63 and bluelvl 64 items are better than epic purple lvl 60 items which means everyone is back to square 1 that means you can entirely skip the lvl 60 Raid scene and move straight onto expansion and raid the new instances to get nice stuff again.

Just make sure you hit 60 before January when Crusade arrives or there might be problems

Not that I have any faith that SA will get TBC at same time as others.

It's NEVER a bad time to join WoW! :D

Are you going to play on the US or EU servers?

SOME of the lvl 63 and 64 quest rewards will be better than SOME of the epic gear. People need to stop generalising based on Tier 1 and Tier 2 gear. Some people actually have Tier 2.5 and Tier 3 gear, and this will last them till lvl 67-68 by all accounts. Regardless of this WoW is not a competition. What does a level playing field have to do with anything? People who play the game seriously will always have better gear than people who play casually, but that has very little effect on a persons own enjoyment of the game, regardless of the gear they have.

TBC will have almost no effect on you if you just plan to play the game a few hours a week. If you plan on spending 5 hours a night 5 nights a week, and join a raiding guild, that is a completely different story.

You can level to 60 without doing a single instance, in fact, its faster to level without doing instances.

Its an awesome game, although far too addictive. If you have a life and struggle with addictive games, I would say give it a miss ;)

nahh !!

tell me something, becos he is obviously a new player and needs to learn from scratch are one of you guys willing to help him through dungeons/instances like Mara,Dire Maul ect ect????Remember this guy is going to play on servers that are highly populated and ALOT of people are past the point where LFG Gnomer is unheard becos 80% of the players are lvl 60s,Besides that as a newbie i would personally like to see a couple lvl 60s help a newbie through each individual instance which is unheard of.

My current guild only takes 60s into it and there are hardly any small guilds that are willing to help each other becos 80% of the server are doing UBRS,ZG,MC and BWL.

so as i said before i rekon he should wait for TBC then find a new realm to start a fresh on so he has alot of people more or less his level and who will be willing to quest with him as they also would need to quest!!

I'm on one of the oldest servers out there, and I have lowbie toons, and there are still plenty of people running instances. On old servers you are far more likely to get a group of people who have a clue how to play, because most of them are lvling alts. As I pointed out though, instances are totally optional in WoW, and ther vast majority of quests are solo quests.

Get the game, see if you enjoy it, worry about TBC when it actually comes out.

vamp go for it BUT i did warn you when you get stuck looking for someone to help you.

do yourself a favour and make a hunter, very easy to solo with and you level fast enough to keep up with the different zones and mobs levels.

as for cats comments, ive rerolled a hunter for TBC at the moment ive hardly come into contact with anyone my range willing to do a low level dungeon, what server you on cat?i have to get my guild to help me most of the time.

No it isnt really a competition but if you play limited amount of hours a week while others who dont have job/life/ect have far exceeded your own hours have much better items.Dont even think about saying "WoW isnt about how good your gear is!"

cause it is:D

A level playing field.

Well it has to do with:
Not being in a good raiding guild cause your not kitted with epic stuff.

Not being included in good raids cause your items are not good enough cause you only play 5 hours a week.

Not standing a chance versus others on Pvp server because they have uber items.

It means you can start over with everyone else on a level playing field by the time you reach 65+ and is advantageous to new players cause others have raided many hours for their Gear and fresh new lvl 60's can just move right into tbc ^^

But dont discourage anyone from joining WoW,im lvling new priest right now not having problems at all on Sylvanas EU.

I'm on Stormrage US.

I've never enjoyed doing low level 5 mans. I guess when I lvled the first time I was a complete noob and so where most of the people I grouped with. I found those groups horrible and prefered to solo. I had no issues leveling with minimal instance runs. If you level fairly quickly you outgrow the gear you get from instances so quickly its hardly worth the effort.

I still dissagree about the level playing field ;) When TBC launches, established guilds aren't going to dump their existing player base just because there are a lot of new players available with similar gear. We have learned though bitter experience that good players will always be good players regardless of their gear. We have had people with exceptional gear who simply cannot perform in complex fights, and people with lousy gear who pull out all the stops. A guild will always pimp good players they find, so gear will never be an issue.

All of this assumes that the OP would even be interested in "end game" raiding ;). Play the game, have fun, make some friends, maybe join a guild, and see what happens

From what I've heard it sound like a great game, but now it seems to competitive? What does it cost per month?

Thanks for the info, though! :D

It's not at all competitive at all. You are free to wonder around the world as you please doing whatever you please. Some people get obsessed with gear and upgrades and think that "leet" gear is the most important thing in game.

There is a ton of fun to be had. There are many aspects to the game and you can dabble in them whenever it suites you. Questing, grinding, farming, PvP, Crafting, Roleplaying etc...you can even fish if you really want to lolololol

Its about R100 per month

Or one DVD *grin*

And that is excluding the patch files. You're looking at about 6 gigs or so.

I don't think Blizzard ever released a DVD version, though the download version is one file. :)
