Well, the new English team certainly gave the Kiwis a solid whack last night on their way to breaking some 7 or 8 longstanding English records.

Who woulda thought the Poms could break 400? and without KP to boot?

Could this be a renaissance for them?

Jordan to BB McCullum, FOUR, chance! Stokes wasn't expecting that at second slip...McCullum on the charge, goes for the pull and gets a top onto his shoulder and helmet which then flies over a startled Stokes to third man. Given runs

What was he expecting then...

McCullum seems to be on a mission - 38 off 20 at this stage

** edit OUT

Yup, seems we looking at just over 300. But it's still a long way to go.

Good innings for Kane:

Stokes to Williamson, OUT, caught at mid-on off a full toss, which is called no-ball on field! Williamson taken by surprise, the ball dips on him, skews it without any timing and it's well caught by Plunkett diving forward...it goes up to the third umpire, who rules it's below waist height so it's given out

KS Williamson c Plunkett b Stokes 93 (88b 12x4 1x6) SR: 105.68

I am starting to wonder if the English are rolling their cricket pitches into runway strips for their ODIs.

"I'm sorry but this just isn't cricket," declares Kieran. "This simply isn't a contest. People are praising the re-birth of ODIs, but it's a false dawn. Bowlers are lambs to the slaughter, and it surely can't continue like this."
