Interesting way that New Zealand is handling their IPwireless

(Woosh Wireless, Auckland NZ)

The Everyday Unlimited Plan is not designed for consistent or extremely heavy users, particularly using peer-to-peer applications constantly. There maybe a very small number of users who sign up for this plan who consistently use the network to the detriment of other users. In order to protect the experience of the vast majority of users, we will contact users who are using the service excessively and discuss their continued use of the plan.

There definetely seems to be a market for P2P users, maybe some innovative company can come out with a P2P package, that would host some servers here in south africa (so as to limit the amount of international bandwidth used). Would probably need terrabytes of disc space though...

they are ways and means.. not quite TB's of space (hey remember u talking about P2P leeching not HTTP/FTP)

a p2p package is dumb. that will cost the provider a lot since they will need to contend 5:1 or better.

economics of scale need to be implemented

cut and paste from sentech i would assume ... god help us if other ipw providers are looking up to them :)

P2P should be shaped and limited to 20% of bandwidth IMHO off peak you will get more if available and you will not cause service problems as it is a dumb protocol and problematic if left unchecked
